The only real way around this is to go to my taskbar, click on VLC and only then can I double-click on the window to remove the fullscreen. It's as if I'm clicking through the fullscreen'd VLC player, as if nothing was there. Well, whenever this same issue occurs, I can't do any of those things. So you'd have to click on VLC to either pause it or use any other controls. When you click on another window, say chrome or skype, the "focus" is on that window. I have a dual monitor setup so whenever I'm watching something, I often have other windows up so I can research some things, chat with people, etc. Sometimes when I fullscreen the player during playback, the controls at the bottom disappear. Honestly I think I've had it ever since I started using VLC years ago.

I've been having this issue for a while now.
